5 Steps to Build a Concrete Focus

Last Sunday, I got a text from an old friend asking for some tips for having a concrete focus. After a small explanation, he urged me to write a detailed blog on the same. So today, let’s talk about FOCUS.


Focus is a skill you build over time that gives you the power to deliver at your peak. It brings a flow into your life that is imperative in your path to success. Flow fades away the distraction from your surroundings such that the only thing visible to you is your art, your work in hand. Your art or the work you deliver resembles the amount of respect you owe to yourself. Any distraction from your work tends to desist your peak performance.

So today, we will discuss several ways you can try to build a focused approach in your daily work.


1. A Strong Reason to perform

We have often heard people telling us to enjoy the process rather than the goals it will help to achieve. But, until you are not intrigued by your goals, focusing on your path will become a challenge. The reason makes you wake up every morning. It gives you a purpose and brings a flow into your life. Having a motive helps you work earnestly without any procrastination or distraction.


2. Meditate

Legends have reiterated over several decades the importance of meditation. One of the many benefits it offers is that it improves your focusing power. It brings a sense of tranquillity and clarity that makes the foundation of a savvy personality and help prioritize your work. Meditation preceded by a 20-minute intense exercise proliferates your focus and willpower.


3. A Good Night Sleep

Seven-hour sleep helps you in two ways. It improves your learning ability and keeps your memory sharp. A sleep-deprived person is unable to focus optimally in their work which exacerbates his/her performance.


4. Take a break

The ones familiar with the Fallow Season will inculcate taking breaks in their routine. After the intense period, when the soil gets tilled and crops planted. There is a resting period where crops are untouched by anything other than the natural elements. Crops grow during the resting period that is only visible after the season.

Taking a break may seem like wasting your time but on the other hand, working without it erodes your creativity and effectiveness.


5. A healthy diet

You become what you eat. Therefore, to improve focus one needs to eat a healthy diet. While a protein-rich diet is a great brain booster, a high-calorie diet hinders concentration and refrains from focusing or prioritizing.

Nuts help prevent cognitive decline with ageing. Dark chocolates are the antioxidant source to enhance focus. Sources of omega-3 help prevent mental decline thus enhancing our memory as we grow old.
